********************************* Milestone XProtect Corporate 5.0c ********************************* This readme file provides you with information about any last-minute changes to the product as well as known issues, licensing information, how the software installation CD is structured, how to contact product support, etc. ------------- Known Issues: ------------- When upgrading from a previous version of XProtect Corpotate, do not uninstall the Download Manager before uninstalling the management server. When upgrading from version 4.1 or earlier of XProtect Corporate, the log entries are migrated from the old database to the new database. This process can take several days (to minimize the load on the system) depending on the size of the old log database. During this time new log entries are readable through the Management Client, the old log entries are readable when migrated. Configuration of a failover server when using a network address translation (NAT) firewall can be done from the Network tab of the required failover server. This procedure is currently not described in the documentation, however, the procedure is the same as for the recording server. Please refer to the ‘Recording Server/Network Tab’ section in the documentation. If choosing to install the server database on an existing remote SQL server, and both IPv4 and IPv6 are enabled but the network only supports IPv6, the SQL Server cannot be contacted using the host name. Instead. using the IP address of the SQL Server solves the problem. If running the XProtect Smart Client in a language using a non-Latin alphabet, the language for non-Unicode programs in Windows must be set to that non-Latin language. In Windows 7, this is selected in: Control Panel -> Region and Language -> Administrative. In the XProtect Smart Client, if the 'Video Quality' feature is used and then disabled, the feature is actually not disabled before switching to another view. The management server host name and IP address must be identical when moving from one server to another. When you move the management server from one physical server to another, it is very important that you give the new server the same host name and IP address as the old one, because the recording server connects to the host name and IP address of the old management server. If the new management server has been given a new host name and/or IP address, the recording server will not be able to find the management server and you will have to manually stop each recording server in your system, change the management server URL, and restart the recording server. In this version of the event server, alarms have been extended with a couple of fields. These include the Priority Name and State Name fields. A priority or state is defined as a combination of name and number. Old alarms are not updated during an upgrade from a previous version of XProtect Corporate. As a result, an old alarm which was in the state 'new', will still be in the state '1', with no state name attached. The state is therefore interpreted as different state to the 'new' state newly created alarms are in. To update alarms during an upgrade, a script has been written to upgrade the old states and priorities to their new counterparts. To obtain the script, contact Milestone Support. Restoring a configuration on a different SQL server to where the backup was performed doesn't work if the SQL server's Data folder is in a different location. On rare occasions, restoring the configuration will fail with the following error message "Failed to open the explicitly specified database". When this happens, the SQL database will be in recovery mode and cannot be used. Workaround: uninstall the management server, delete the failed SQL database (using the Microsoft SQL Management Studio tool), reinstall the SQL database and the management server and restore the configuration. Anti-virus scanning should be disabled on the %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Milestone folder to avoid files being locked by the anti-virus software. When uninstalling the management server, it might freeze during the step: "removing backup files". In some cases, this step can take several hours to complete. Generating a System Monitor PDF report might fail on some machines. If performing PTZ actions in the XProtect Smart Client by holding down one of the PTZ overlay buttons in the view, the buttons disappear after 10 seconds. To make the buttons re-appear, release the button. However, PTZ actions will continue even when the buttons disappear. On rare occassions, the timeline in the XProtect Smart Client will disappear, but you will still be able to play back video. Restarting the XProtect Smart Client will make the timeline re-appear. --------- Licensing: ---------- The product contains technology to prevent unlicensed use of the product. Before the expiration of the grace period, you must perform a mandatory online or offline activation of the product in order not to lose any video data. Failing to activate the product before the grace day period expires, will result in a disruption of operation. When you have added computers or camera hardware, you must also reactivate the product before a new grace day period expires. The grace day period is typically 30 (thirty) days from the date of adding the camera. ---------------- Product Support: ---------------- To obtain product support, contact your Milestone XProtect Corporate reseller.
